‘Game changer’ in contractor recruitment launched

Contractor recruitment is to see a major shake up with the launch of a new portal which allows companies to make their own searches of an individually tailored database of candidates, drive down recruitment time and fees, and better manage contractor rates.

Suitable for companies taking on more than a couple of contractors a month, Redrock Central, the brainchild of recruitment specialist Redrock Consulting, has been designed to streamline the process of hiring a contractor, giving the client control over timings, quality and cost.  Its use will save around 33% on recruitment fees, as well as cutting down on the time spent finding the right contractors, all while allowing the employer to keep track of high performing temporary staff – and avoid reemploying poor performers.

Using the portal, clients can search their own bespoke database of relevant, prequalified and experienced candidates by key words, names, skills and geography.  They can access referees for each candidate from within their own organisations or elsewhere; and can even track the availability of particular contractors to ensure that their preferred candidates will be available for a specific project.  Having identified the candidates in whom they are interested, users can download CVs, take up references, arrange interviews or simply hire, all at the click of a mouse.

Once Redrock has audited a client company’s skills and experience requirement, it populates Redrock Central with a customised selection of CVs featuring relevant skills from its own vast talent pool.  Clients can choose which candidates to include on their own database, thereby controlling quality and cost, and can stipulate the candidate details required for inclusion, from contact numbers and proofs of identity to security clearances and visas, cutting down on time and paperwork.

Employers of large numbers of contractors have the opportunity to pre negotiate ratecards with the candidates populating their database, giving them more control over temporary staff costs than ever before.

Hirers have their own user name and secure password to access their database, and since the system is so simple to use, the induction process takes no more than 30 minutes.

There are no up-front fees to pay before the portal is installed at a client organisation.  Clients can choose to pay an annual subscription for access to the database, or simply settle up on a per hire basis.

“The portal is very user and search friendly, and because we customise the data to match the requirement of each client, every search will turn up a selection of well qualified candidates together with details of the availability of each,” says Redrock Consulting director Ben Curnock..  “In many instances, users can take on candidates who have already worked in their organisation, saving time on induction, and can take up references from their colleagues, ensuring that the candidate is a perfect fit for the job.  What’s more, where clients have worked with particular people in the past and rated them highly, they can check individual availability for upcoming projects, and ensure that they can plan properly to secure the services of especially relevant individuals.  So while Redrock Central will drive recruitment fees down, it will also drive meaningful efficiencies through client organisations.

“Having Redrock Central on your computer will be like having access to your own bespoke talent pool,” adds Curnock.  “We’ve got one of the best resourcing teams in the UK, so there will be no compromise on the quality or relevance of the candidates.  The portal will simply drive costs down and efficiencies up, giving employers more control over timings, quality and cost.”

Redrock Central went live on 1 February 2011, and there are already plans to extend the offer to hirers of permanent staff.
