18% Of Jobseekers Apply To More Than 20 Jobs

A recent survey by TipTopJob.com, an Internet Job Board found that over 54% of jobseekers apply to less than 5 jobs when looking for their next step. 38% actually said they applied to only 1 or 2 jobs. Amazingly, 18% of respondents say they have applied for over 20 jobs in their job hunt.

With unemployment high and many jobseekers desperate to find work, it is not surprising that 18% of people are applying for so many jobs. On top of this, the ability to apply for jobs so easily online allows candidates to apply to more jobs than if they had to contact recruiters or companies directly.

Unfortunately, this does not help the recruiters job. With recruiters snowed under with such high numbers of applications, recruiters do not have the time to reply back even to say a quick ‘sorry, you have not been accepted this time’. In turn, this is highly frustrating for the jobseeker who does not know where they stand.

Mike Dauncey, CEO of TipTopJob.com, commented, “On a positive note, online job applications mean that candidates and recruiters can be matched up much more quickly and people placed in jobs within days. Something that was never possible before the invention of job boards. We are proud to be able to assist the recruiters and believe we make their job much more effective!”
