80% Find Fuel Prices a Burden on Commute

A recent survey by TipTopJob reveals a massive 80% of people travelling to work by car have found it has made a difference to their travel costs. The latest hike in fuel prices have taken them to a record level and it is leaving everyone especially commuters using cars penniless There are concerns that with fuel costs soaring there could be a re-run of the protests which left the country crippled in 2000.

These staggering increases have meant that people would even consider changing their method of transport to and from work, in fact, a mighty 63% said they would consider finding alternative ways to get to work. Train costs are also costly today but can probably work out cheaper for some individuals if people are able to take the train to work but many are not as fortunate to have alternatives like the train, bus or even tram in some towns. Some people who can only get to work using their car and who are finding it unaffordable are even considering changing their job to survive. TipTopJob's survey also found that a huge 60% would consider leaving their job to find new employment if it would allow for a reduction in their travel costs.

Some companies will find they may need to help employees by offering them a car allowance or to pay for some travel costs to entice them to stay. This could however become controversial given that some companies are still struggling to build their businesses back up as we come out of the recession and would find it almost impossible to accommodate for this. Will the government provide solutions to help all parties soon? Probably not.
