Aberdeen charity signs up new recruit for winter care shelter

Aberdeen charity signs up new recruit for winter care shelter

A LEADING North-east oil and gas recruitment company has become the first business to sign up to help a homeless charity this winter.

Scoro Solutions, based on Wellington Circle in Altens, has partnered up with Bethany Christian Trust to help keep people off the streets as the cold weather starts to bite.

A team of seven staff from Scoro will provide catering for the first night of the winter care shelter at the St. Andrews Cathedral in King Street which starts on Monday December 19.

The winter care shelter is commissioned and funded by Aberdeen City Council and this will be the third year they have worked with Bethany Christian Trust to provide this vital service.

Scoro Solutions director Ross Gatt is thrilled to be able to support the initiative as they again show their commitment to yet another worthy charity.

“We are delighted to be supporting this North east charity, particularly at a time of year when homeless people are most vulnerable,” he said.

“It is easy to forget how hard it is for people on the streets at this time of year, so it is important we try to offer as much help as we can.

"The staff are really looking forward to getting down to the shelter to help out, and I especially have a keen interest in supporting Bethany Christian Trust after my involvement last year.”

Bethany Christian Trust support 4,000 homeless and vulnerable people every year in Scotland in an attempt to find them accommodation in their local community.

Andrew Murray, Bethany’s North of Scotland manager, paid tribute to the Scoro team after becoming the first business to join their 2011 campaign.

“Working in partnership with businesses is vital as we seek to resolve homelessness in Aberdeen,” he said.

“We are delighted to work with Aberdeen City Council, local churches and the local business community.

“We are thrilled that Scoro has come on board to help and support our winter campaign.

“It is a particularly difficult time of year for homeless people, so to know they are being guaranteed a warm meal at night is of real importance to them.

“Last year we were able to help 140 people in crisis and we hope that the service can once again respond to many people in a similar situation.

“It is great to have a business like Scoro willing to support our efforts.”
