An all-new version of leading job site, reed.co.uk, has been unveiled.

The next generation site has been re-developed from the ground up and includes a range of new features and a completely new design.

Originally launched in 1995, reed.co.uk was the UK's first recruitment agency website and has gone on to become the biggest job board in the UK, generating more than 78,000 applications every day.

The latest version, which has been nearly a year in the making, includes a full overhaul of the core job search functionality and has been subject to rigorous user testing and consultation at every step of the development process.

Vickie Birnage, Head of Product Effectiveness at reed.co.uk, explains:

"With more than 3.5 million unique visitors every month, we started this project with a huge responsibility to our existing users, as well as to the thousands of new jobseekers who register with us every day. By taking the best bits of the old site and combining them with new, usability-led features and functionality, we've been able to deliver what we think is the best online jobseeking experience available."

"Every page has been re-designed and every user journey analysed to give the most intuitive, supportive and effective service. But we know that the work doesn't stop here. We'll keep testing the new site with real jobseekers, gathering their feedback and optimising every area of reed.co.uk."

The previous version of reed.co.uk, which was live for four years from December 2008, saw more than 3.5 million new jobseeker registrations and over 65 million job applications. Traffic to the site has grown by 70%, over the same period.

As well as a range of improvements for jobseekers, the new reed.co.uk includes a number of new features for recruiters.

'Display' jobs enable employers to create fully-branded job details pages, whilst bespoke company profiles, featuring video and other interactive content, offer recruiters the opportunity to create brochure-style pages to promote their brands. New targeted display advertising options have also been included throughout the site.

Martin Warnes, Managing Director of reed.co.uk, comments:

"For us, it's simple: combining the best product with a well optimised marketing engine provides our clients with the most effective service.

“The new site offers a really simple and supportive service for matching jobseekers with the most suitable vacancies, whilst helping them keep their all-important profile details relevant and up-to-date.

“And, with an exciting new advertising campaign just around the corner, we’re looking forward to helping deliver success to our clients with unprecedented levels of quality response.”
