APSCo to host first ever Scottish members meeting as part of new strategy for 2012

Edinburgh, October 12th 2011

Sponsored by Saffery Champness

The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) is to host its first ever meeting in Scotland as part of its new strategy of increasing its presence in Scotland in 2012. The meeting will be sponsored by Saffery Champness, the leading accountancy firm.

The meeting, to be held in Edinburgh on October 12th 2011, will include presentations by Sue Dodd of Agile Intelligence and David Hughes of Saffery Champness.

Sue Dodd will look at the challenges facing the recruitment sector during the slow recovery. Her presentation will examine sales and margin trends, as well as other economic drivers.

The presentation by David Hughes of Saffery Champness will examine the pros and cons, from a tax perspective, of awarding equity to recruiters.

Ann Swain, Chief Executive of APSCo, comments: “At the moment recruiters based in Scotland are travelling to London and Manchester for events. There is a huge appetite for the kind of business intelligence APSCo provides right across the UK, so it makes sense to host meetings in locations convenient to our expanding membership base in Scotland.”

Ian Goddard, Group Operations Director at Fircroft, the leading global engineering recruiter, adds: “APSCo are a proactive professional body that are always innovative and supportive in Fircroft’s key sectors. We have had a presence in Scotland for a number of years and we support some of the region’s largest employers in the North Sea oil and gas sector. It is good to see APSCo becoming more active in the region as it looks to support some of its key members, in what is a very important part of the UK economy.”

Russell Dalgleish, Senior Partner at Hamilton Bradshaw Venture Partners says: “Having worked with APSCo’s team in London for many years I was delighted to hear that they are planning a first event in Edinburgh. It’s a unique opportunity to hear the latest thinking on recruitment from key speakers and to network with leading figures in the recruitment industry in Scotland.”
