The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) is launching a new helpdesk which will provide free accountancy advice to APSCo members. The helpdesk will be delivered by Saffery Champness.

Saffery Champness, one of the most experienced and knowledgeable national accountancy firms in the recruitment sector, has recently become an affiliate member of APSCo.

The new technical helpdesk launches, which is available now, will allow APSCo members to receive free technical advice and support from experts at Saffery Champness, including up to 20 minutes of free advice from either a Senior Manager or Partner in the firm.*

APSCo members can contact the helpdesk with any questions about audits, accounting, accountancy and corporate finance, including:

  • Extracting profits from the business in a tax efficient manner
  • Details of share incentive schemes for employees
  • An overview of how travel and subsistence schemes work
  • Other salary benefit schemes, such as pensions or childcare vouchers
  • Taxation associated with company cars or car allowances
  • Clarification on the impact of matters arising from the Chancellor’s Budget on your business
  • VAT issues arising when dealing with international businesses, or VAT exempt businesses – including banks, charities and healthcare operators
  • Explanation of possible sources of finance and methods of improving working capital
  • Considerations when carrying out financial due diligence on a possible acquisition target
  • Considerations when valuing a recruitment business
  • Tips on grooming your business for an exit

The contact the helpdesk, email apsco@saffery.com. A ‘call-back’ service is in operation and Saffery Champness will respond to enquiries on the same working day – however depending on time of day/volume of enquiries, a response may be delayed, but will be given before the end of the following working day.

Ann Swain, Chief Executive of APSCo, comments: “This will be a fantastic tool for our members. Saffery Champness has an excellent pedigree advising recruiters and is very familiar with many of the day-to-day accountancy and tax issues that a recruitment business might face.”

“This will be the perfect complement to our legal helpdesk, which we launched last year in partnership with employment law firm Osborne Clarke. APSCo members can now access top level accountancy and legal advice free of charge.”

Simon Kite, Partner at Saffery Champness, comments: “Accountancy and tax issues can be complex and consume a lot of senior management time. A lot of these issues can be resolved with some quick advice from experts, saving a huge amount of time.”

*Complex enquiries requiring additional research may be chargeable. Saffery Champness will make members aware of this fact that, providing a quote, and members would have no obligation to continue using their services.
