AWR opportunity to demonstrate added value, says REC Drivers

AWR opportunity to demonstrate added value, says REC Drivers

Members of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation's Drivers Sector group, which represents recruiters in freight and logistics, have underlined a 'silver lining' of the Agency Worker Regulations coming into force in October 2011.

During an AWR workshop delivered by the REC’s solicitors, the group’s members discussed how the regulations may present an opportunity to demonstrate the added value of their services.

Commenting on the issue Rod Harris, REC Drivers Chair said:

“The regulations are a reality and they are here to stay. There are still parts that concern us all and areas where we would like further clarification, but we need to remember that this is not the end of recruitment.

“Our sector has already been through the administrative burden of putting the right processes in place to satisfy tracking requirements and working time regulations. And similarly, by treating our drivers fairly and developing close relationships with our clients and candidates, we will cope with AWR. This is a unique opportunity to make the best of this legislation and prove ourselves as a trusted partner of both our people and our clients.

“Our members have the competitive advantage of accessing the REC’s specialised information and advice on AWR. We will continue working closely with the REC to keep our members up to date.”
