BCL Legal Secures Contract with The Duchy of Lancaster

Manchester headquartered BCL Legal, one of the leading legal recruitment consultancies outside London, has secured a major and exclusive contract with The Duchy of Lancaster to recruit a high profile solicitor who will be part of the management team. The contract commences with immediate effect and will see BCL Legal’s team work with The Duchy of Lancaster’s CEO to find the right person for this unique role which is based in London but involves significant travel to the North West region.

The Duchy of Lancaster is an ancient body dating back to the 1300s and is responsible for managing a private portfolio of land, property and financial investments. It also undertakes various administrative duties, primarily associated with the area of the historical County Palatine of Lancaster (today, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside). The Duchy's main purpose is to provide income for The Sovereign, Her Majesty the Queen, as Duke of Lancaster.

The Duchy of Lancaster is a body created under Charter and is custodian of 18,800 hectares across England and Wales, including key urban developments, historic buildings, high quality farm land and areas of great natural beauty. This new role will report to the CEO and will involve both technical and ceremonial aspects, with an overall remit to oversee the performance of the external lawyers appointed by the Duchy Officers and Surveyors of Lands in the course of their commercial activities
