Can recruitment companies win more business via online video?

Lights, camera, action – that was the phrase of the day last week, as Mike Walmsley’s video production team filmed their latest batch of videos aimed at increasing profits for recruitment businesses.

The videos are being created to enable recruitment companies to attract passive candidates, prospect clients and more recruitment consultants. Industry guru Mike Walmsley, who pioneered this concept for recruitment companies, was quoted as saying :

“Everyone is talking about the growth of social media – and what that means for recruitment businesses, but very few have worked out how to integrate online video into their social media strategy. We’ve had a terrific uptake already and there is no doubt in my mind that online video will become a must-have for recruitment directors over the next few years.”

Research shows that 2 in 5 of web users upload video, 1 in 2 share video and 1 in 3 will comment on video content. In fact, 600,000 people shared Nike’s ‘Write the Future’ ad, which just goes to show how a quality campaign can really seduce the viewer whilst boosting sales.

It is predicted that by 2013, 90% of web content will be video. According to Forrester, 60% of all web traffic already stems from video. Furthermore, the number of people viewing video on mobile devices has increased 66% in the past year to 12.1 million mobile consumers across the EU5 countries (U.K., France, Germany, Spain and Italy).

Walmsley, pictured, went on to say, “Whilst video SEO is much more potent than text SEO - and the potential for branded videos within Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter is obvious - this is not just about enhancing SEO and attracting passive candidates and clients. Used imaginatively, professional online videos, branded in your company’s name, will enable your sales people to open doors that remain closed to your competitors. It’s an interesting fact that over 15 million people in the UK are going to watch 200 million online videos today.”

David Jones, Managing Director of SSG, the recruitment investment group, was present to oversee the filming of his own corporate video and had this to say:

“I didn’t realise how much thought and effort goes into filming. Mike’s presenter has read the news for the BBC and she was absolutely superb. There were 5 people in the production team, all working very efficiently together. The end result is a slick and professional looking video, exactly what we were looking for. We were blown away by the results.”

Have your say...
