A Birmingham junior football club recently touched by tragedy has found its perfect match after generous workers donated £400 for a new kit.

Coaches and players from Castle Vale JKS FC were left devastated following the death of 10-year-old Callum Henry who tragically died in hospital after being knocked off his bike in September. He played for the club’s under 11’s team.

The club had been struggling to find sponsors this season until Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG) stepped in to buy a new kit and training equipment for the under 10’s team.

The team was nominated for a payroll giving donation by local employer liaison coordinator Jayne Hanson whose son Kadian Burke plays for the Under 10’s.

Employees donate monthly into PPDG’s payroll giving scheme, Give As You Earn, through salary deductions so that good causes and community initiatives can benefit. This latest £400 donation has paid for 12 strips and new match balls.

Jayne said: “Castle Vale is an area which does suffer from high unemployment but it’s a vibrant community and the football club does a fabulous job in keeping the children engaged and focused. It’s a chance not only to develop their team working and employability skills at an early age but also instils a set of values to become good citizens in the future.

“The opportunity to secure a smart new kit to wear as a reward for their commitment was too tempting to resist and the joy on their faces when the kit arrived was absolutely priceless. It has been a very difficult time for the club recently but this has given the youngsters and parents a real lift, playing for your shirt now has that extra meaning.”

Castle Vale JKS FCcoach Karl Armstrong, who runs the Under 10’s team, said: “The kids absolutely love their new kit and run out onto the pitch with a genuine pride. On behalf of the team and the parents I would like to thank PPDG for the support they have given and we all hope the team can push on and have a successful season.”

PPDG’s team of employment experts provide advice on benefits, confidence building, one-to-one support, CV and interview preparation as well as finding the right job or training course. To learn more about the services available give Jayne a call on 07739 677188
