Change of Name

When Business File was formed nearly 25 years ago, in January 1987, the recruitment process was usually a collection of boxes filled with cards for every job and every candidate, and recruitment consultants who searched through every one to find the right match. And in the right hands it worked but it could be improved, streamlined, easier, faster…

Our background then wasn’t recruitment, but it was computers and we believed that computer databases were the key. If we used databases to file all the information stored on all those cards and then used the speed of computer logic, we could search huge amounts of information faster and more accurately than even the most experienced consultant. The result was the launch in 1987 of Business File Limited and MatchMaker Software, professional software for recruitment professionals.

Since those early days we have seen many amazing changes, both in the industry and technology and we have worked consistently to combine the best of both worlds. MatchMaker is now one of the market leaders in recruitment software so we are delighted to announce that very soon Business File Limited will be changing name to MatchMaker Software Limited...same Company Number, same directors and employees, same telephone number, bank and VAT; just a change of name to reflect more accurately the way of the 21stCentury and to help the recruitment world recognise and associate our well known product name with our Company.

We look forward to an exciting future as MatchMaker Software Limited.

Started in the recruitment industry in October 1986 so just beat Business File. We had three Amstrad 1512 computers with floppy discs holding our data in dBase and a dot matrix printer. John Crowther and his team and the first version of Matchmaker were our IT partners for many years and I can only say congratulation for your longevity and for staying abareast of technology. Well done
