Changing regulations have raised the bar for recruiters, says REC Head of Training

Ongoing changes to employment regulations have made it more important than ever for recruitment professionals to be ahead of the game. Although this creates some challenges, it is also provides opportunities for recruiters to demonstrate their professionalism and the added value they provide to clients, according to the REC’s Head of Training, Andrew Carr.

Commenting on this trend and on the need to provide recruiters with practical support on the ever-changing regulatory landscape, Andrew Carr says:

“One of the key areas in the professional development of any recruiter is to enhance their knowledge of all relevant legislation – from the recently implemented Agency Workers Regulations to the Employment Agencies Act 1973.”

“As well as ensuring that the business is fully compliant and working within the letter of the law, being up to speed with all current regulations is a key selling point to clients. This makes it increasingly important for representative bodies like the REC to deliver targets training courses so that recruiters have access to the latest information and have detailed understanding of what the legal requirements mean in practice”.

In order to provide additional support to recruiters in this area, four new business law programmes have been added to the REC’s suite of training courses. The new courses are aimed at team leaders or consultants who need to update their knowledge on current legislation governing both recruitment and employment law.

The four new courses cover:  Essentials of recruitment Law, managing PAYE temporary workers, supplying limited company contractors and understanding employment law to manage your employees and protect your business.
