Charity Seeks ‘Lost’ Students Education charity, EDT is looking to contact people who have taken part in its well known ‘The Year in Industry’ programme over the past 25 years. The Year in Industry is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year and EDT is looking to contact as many of the 12,000 students that have been through the programme during that time as possible. Chris Ward, National Director for the programme is keen to be in touch with the students saying: “We want to have as many alumni as possible to share in our celebrations across the country, we want to find out what they are doing now and to keep in touch with them in future through a new alumni programme.” The plan is to invite alumni to summer celebration events based on the following regions · North East/Cumbria · South East · North West/Yorkshire · South West · · The national celebration will be held in The Year in Industry is typically taken by students between school and university and consists of a paid internship with leading companies in engineering and scientific disciplines. As it is a national programme, alumni are likely to be spread across Chris Ward is excited to find out where the students are now. “‘The Year in Industry’ has always attracted many of the brightest and best engineering and science students of each year and they have been placed for their work experience in leading companies. With this background we are confident that among the alumni there will be captains of industry and successful entrepreneurs who have established their own companies. The first cohorts will now be “ancient” people in their 40’s; we are keen to hear from them as well as from the many in later years in placements across the whole of the Alumni should contact EDT on 01707 871 520 or email yini25@etrust.org.uk More information on the Year in industry can be found at www.yini.org.uk |
