Steven Kirkpatrick, Managing Director, Adecco - the UK's largest recruiter, said:

"It's encouraging to see an uplift in employment figures this month, and this is certainly something that we have been seeing in many of our branches. However, most of the vacancies we are seeing are a result of

people leaving roles, rather than new jobs being created - this coupled with the public sector cuts means that this is not a sustainable pattern. Last month's Budget did little to support the creation of new roles and so far this year, we have not seen many signs that private sector vacancies will be able to make up for the public sector job losses, especially as the economic climate is discouraging people from leaving secure positions."
