Concept Staffing makes key appointments

Leading West Country recruitment company Concept Staffing has appointed three new managers across its branch network.

Jamie Portt, 31, has been appointed Branch Manager for Plymouth after working in the recruitment industry for six years. He recently relocated to Plymouth from Bristol where he worked in the IT, engineering and education sectors. He has high hopes for his new position, including growing the branch to eight consultants to meet the increasing demand from local clients and people looking for work.

Jamie said: “I’m hoping to implement an apprentice training programme to invest in people in the Plymouth area and create the consultants of the future.

“I also want to introduce additional new business areas to the company in response to the changing requests we’re receiving from local employers, as well as spearheading a general rise in the standards of recruitment across the Plymouth area. Concept has led the way in customer excellence for many years, and we must continue to do so.”

Rebecca Gulliver has been appointed as Yeovil Branch Manager after just 18 months in the recruitment industry. Rebecca previously spent 10 years in the motor trade working in such roles as Service Manager and After Sales Manager.

She is aiming to continue to grow the Yeovil industrial desk and build a commercial presence within the town. She is also looking to develop a recruitment team within the Motor Trade sector offering the added value of her expert knowledge and understanding.

Existing Concept employee Andrew Banfield has recently been promoted from consultant to Branch Manager in Truro. He has six years experience in the industry with four of those spent with Concept in both the Truro and Plymouth branches.

Andrew said: “Concept is growing all the time and I have been put in this position to ensure the Truro branch stays in line with this growth.

“Currently, the branch works with clients in Truro, Bodmin, St Austell, Newquay and Redruth, and we are steadily expanding this reach into Falmouth, Penryn, St Ives and surrounding areas to enable more businesses to work with Concept and to increase the opportunities we are able to offer our candidates.”

Karen Sharpin, Area Director for Concept Staffing, said: “We’re delighted to make these new appointments. All three have big plans for their branch, whether it be expanding or introducing new programmes, so I’m really looking forward to the year ahead.”

Concept is the South West’s leading provider of permanent and temporary recruitment, which specialises in a number of industry sectors including accountancy, catering, commercial, engineering, driving, legal, manufacturing, public sector, sales and industrial.

Together as part of the Acorn Group, the company finds jobs for up to 5000 temps with more than 850 different clients each week, and also delivers training to more than 3,000 individuals and makes 1,700 permanent placements every year.
