Cooper Lomaz completes Sheringham Shoal wind farm recruitment

Cooper Lomaz completes Sheringham Shoal wind farm recruitment

Bury St Edmund’s: an East Anglian recruitment consultancy beat national competition to be selected as Scira Offshore Energy’s consultants for a major recruitment project.  Scira, the joint venture company owned equally by two Norwegian companies, Statoil and Stakraft, is developing the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Windfarm off the coast of North Norfolk.

The Cooper Lomaz engineering team has 56 years of combined experience, focusing on the oil and gas industry, food manufacturing and supply chain functions.  With today’s emphasis on green energy, it is now making its mark on the renewable energy sector.

The consultancy has recently completed a major recruitment campaign for Scira, which has seen the appointment of two mechanical engineers, two electrical engineers, six marine co-ordinators, a Finance Manager, an HR and Communications Manager and a Health and Safety Inspector.  All candidates had to demonstrate that they could meet Scira’s key values of honesty, integrity, diligence and a passion for their work – and at the same time a have capacity for enjoyment!

“We are becoming increasingly involved in renewable energy and are building a renewable energy recruitment team,” explains Emma Painter, who is heading up the new division.  Emma has been working within the Norfolk engineering and oil and gas sectors for eight years, and has developed considerable sector knowledge and expertise while building a strong reputation and local relationships.

This has allowed her and the team to deliver on a number of successful recruitment projects within this fast growing sector.

“The campaign has been a great success for us and for Scira,” comments Cooper Lomaz’s joint Chief Executive Officer, Jane Lovell.  “Scira is committed to the North Norfolk economy and is keen for local people to benefit from the development of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Windfarm.  They insisted that we advertised locally.

“Their faith in the availability of locally sourced skills and talents was justified - we discovered an amazing range which resulted in the appointment of people with Norfolk addresses.  In some cases successful candidates have been able to move back to the county rather than work away from home.”

Jane finishes by saying.  “We are so excited about the team we have recruited and the opportunities this has had, and will continue to present, for local industry and sector.  The campaign was finished three weeks ahead of schedule and all candidates are in post and thriving in their new roles.”
