DARWIN CELEBRATE 10 YEAR EVOLUTION

Darwin Recruitment are celebrating their 10 year transformation from a 2-man consultancy to a 60+ strong agency with a growing trading network across Europe. The privately owned company recently treated staff to a casino themed anniversary event where further plans to expand their operation were announced. This month the growing Essex-based firm opened a new branch in Amsterdam - the first in a three year international expansion plan.

Darwin was set up in 2001 to specialise in sourcing senior level IT professionals. The company has since experienced unprecedented year on year growth despite the challenging economic climate of late. With the latest financial year’s sales reaching a £7.5million turnover, the firm forecasts an 80% growth to £13.5million turnover by 2012 with a significant increase in contractor numbers. Forty new jobs will be created to deliver the ambitious plans which include increased UK trading and new branches in Switzerland, Norway and Germany.

Owners and Directors Paul Kirby and Daniel Mulholland believe their business model provides Darwin with a unique platform for the expected growth. Paul Kirby explains:

“The government have recently announced that they see the UK economy trading out of trouble by growing exports by 8% per year. We feel that we are very much ‘of the moment’ in the context of our strategy and the way our UK service is received from our European customer base. Combined with our cultural understanding, track record and customer relationships we believe we are in unique position to exponentially grow the business and deliver value universally to our stakeholders.”

The management team at Darwin attribute a large portion of the company’s success to continuous investment in staff training and development, as Director Daniel Mulholland explains:

“We have a highly motivated workforce here at Darwin. We concentrate on developing an individual’s potential and rewarding achievement. Plus, there are few agencies that offer such attractive remuneration in the current climate. Between us, the board members have extensive experience of the sector and believe we are unique in our approach to developing management staff from within the organisation, which in turn provides our clients with expert knowledge and continuity.”

The company operate a training and succession programme for all new employees whether they bring previous recruitment experience or are new to the industry. The last five managerial appointments were made by internal promotion and at the recent 10 year anniversary event, special recognition was awarded to those with outstanding sales records and long-term service.
