Definitive Consulting seals strategic alliance with New York’s AW Rush & Co

In a move that signals the beginning of a concerted move to expand into key overseas markets, Definitive Consulting has entered into a strategic alliance with New York-based legal specialist AW Rush & Co. The agreement comes after an exhaustive search, which aimed to identify the ideal partner based on the overall approach to recruitment consultancy, complementary sector focus and cultural fit.

Darren James, founder and MD, Definitive Consulting, said: “This agreement is the culmination of a great deal of work from our own legal team, first to identify the right partner and then to negotiate an alliance that benefits both sides in an increasingly internationalised legal employment market.

“This is part of an international expansion effort which is predicated on creating either a branded presence or working partnership in key markets where there is a clear client need and, therefore, an immediate market opportunity for us.”

Under the terms of the agreement, the two firms will initially collaborate on international search and selection projects, and cross-border recruitment briefs.

James, explained: “It is increasingly common for our clients to come to us seeking to establish new legal discipline teams spanning both the UK and the US, or with recruitment briefs so specialist that we have to look to North America for the right candidates.

“For instance specialist markets such as high-yield are US driven legal products and, as such, are creating high demand for US qualified lawyers in certain sectors of capital markets. Building a close working relationship with AW Rush is about making sure we have the skills and connections in place to respond effectively to the needs of our clients and candidates in these sectors.”
