Designers support young people’s charity

A Birmingham-based charity that helps prevent young people becoming homeless has been given a helping hand with its fundraising drive.

St Basils, which provides accommodation and services for young people aged 16 to 25 to help prevent homelessness, received support from Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG).

The Edgbaston-based company contacted local charities offering the services of its marketing and design team free of charge. It has appealed for more charities that may benefit from free graphic design support services to get in touch.

PPDG’s talented design team approached St Basils to offer marketing support to help its charity fundraising objectives.

Lucy Hackett, of St Basils, said: ‘It has been a great opportunity for us to work with a professional design team to create an easy to use fundraising pack for our supporters. Members of the public can now easily download a fundraising pack from www.stbasils.org.uk at no charge to St Basils.

“The creative designers at PPDG have been a fantastic support and have created a super tool for us to promote our fundraising and encourage other members of the public to help us reach our annual fundraising targets. The downloadable fundraising pack makes fundraising easier by providing some basic marketing templates and information to help promote events or challenges and raise more money for St Basils.

“We are so grateful to the team. It’s been wonderful working with them and they have produced a great looking pack for us that was right on brief. We will now try and encourage more people to visit the website, download the pack and start raising money for St Basils to support the prevention of youth homelessness in the region.”

St Basils supports accommodation for young people and a range of services including: prevention services; housing aid and advice; family mediation; peer educators; key workers, learning skills and work; advice and guidance on education employment and training; resettlement and floating support. It operates in Birmingham, Redditch, Solihull, Sandwell and North Worcestershire.

Paul King, PPDG’s marketing and PR director, invited charities to contact the design team by emailing aiden.begley@ppdg.co.uk for more information.

PPDG delivers the Government’s Welfare to Work strategy across the Midlands through Flexible New Deal, Work Focused Training and other employment initiatives. PPDG is using its vast experience of helping long-term unemployed people get back into work to help local jobseekers secure employment opportunities.

PPDG’s team of employment experts provide advice on benefits, confidence building, one-to-one support, CV and interview preparation as well as finding the right job or training course. In partnership with DWP, the Ministry of Justice and Jobcentre Plus, PPDG delivers a diverse range of employment and training initiatives including Flexible New Deal, Working Neighbourhoods Fund, Learndirect and many ESF funded programmes. More than 100,000 job seekers have been helped into sustained employment by the company since the projects began.  It has trained 130,000 people in vocational skills, and over 175,000 people have benefitted from professional information, advice and guidance services.
