Doom, gloom and despair. Or is there?

“The crisis-hit Eurozone”, “Britain's enormous budget deficit”, “spiralling unemployment”… All of these miserable terms have become reliable buzz words of late, used unashamedly to describe the UK economy and business environment. Is it any wonder that more than half of Britain's top business people (56 per cent) expect the economy to get worse over the next 12 months?

Doom, gloom and despair. Or is there?

“The crisis-hit Eurozone”, “Britain's enormous budget deficit”, “spiralling unemployment”… All of these miserable terms have become reliable buzz words of late, used unashamedly to describe the UK economy and business environment. Is it any wonder that more than half of Britain's top business people (56 per cent) expect the economy to get worse over the next 12 months?

Bucking the trend in spectacular fashion this year though, is London-based IT recruitment specialist Maximus. They have announced aggressive growth plans over 2012, investing £400k and more then doubling the size of the business to create greater opportunities for ambitious, driven recruiters.

First on the agenda is an exciting move to a brand new, slick and spacious London city centre office. The purpose built space not only offers ample area inside, it also boasts a 1500 sq ft roof terrace with panoramic views of the London skyline! Excited about the move, Managing Director of the firm, Satnam Brar commented, “Our new office will offer a cutting edge infrastructure - it’s probably one of the slickest office designs of any UK recruitment agency.”

So while the majority of UK businesses are counting the pennies, no expense has been spared in providing luxury for the Maximus employees, there will even be a video wall incorporated into the interior design, enabling staff to view the latest promotional videos. Mr Brar is conscious that in giving to his employees, the company will reap the rewards. He said, “All of our meeting rooms will have a view of London, sleek furniture and more than 260 degrees of floor to ceiling natural light. The next 24 months will see Maximus gain significant market share over the competition and this investment will play a major part in ensuring that happens – So we can’t wait to move in!”

This optimistic outlook is in stark contrast to the current doom, gloom and despair surrounding UK business but it is with good reason. Maximus has real credibility. Not only is it the first recruitment firm to become an Oracle Gold Partner, the company has also been recognised by the Sunday Times as one of the fastest growing UK businesses. Mr Brar said, “We are confident in our abilities. We have the clout to win big relationships over our competition. We don’t need to make this investment, we want to.”
