Following the accidental emailing of a file containing the names and pay rates of 3,000 temporary contractors .at RBS, Adam Shaw, MD of Assured Recruitment commented: “Contractor information is highly sensitive and must be treated with the strictest confidentiality at all times. Any company that holds such personal data must have safeguards in place to minimise the risk of human error; in this case protecting the confidential agreements between companies and their contractors.

"Unfortunately, email usage makes these type of errors all too easy;  this can impact not only the reputation of the company, but that of the recruitment agency too.  Sensitive data should be stored in a confidential file with restricted access to mitigate the risk of it being accidentally sent. Client companies will not tolerate a lack of diligence and mistakes like this cannot be undone."
