eFinancialCareers community programme recognized at Lord Mayor’s Dragon Awards 2011

eFinancialCareers, the leading global finance careers site with headquarters in London, is pleased to announce its Corporate Social Responsibility programme “Future Unlimited” has been awarded the prestigious Lord Mayor’s Dragon Award 2011.  eFinancialCareers was competing with 12 other companies that entered the Heart of the City category for newcomer companies in the field of community action. It was chosen for its outstanding achievements and high levels of staff involvement.  The winners of the Dragon awards were announced on 20 September 2011 at the annual celebratory event which was hosted by the Lord Mayor and held at the Mansion House.

eFinancialCareers’ “Future Unlimited” programme was launched in 2010 and focuses on giving a boost to the aspirations and life/employment chances of disadvantaged young people growing up in London boroughs close to the eFinancialCareers’ headquarters on the edge of the City.

Over 60% of eFinancialCareers London head office employees have to date volunteered their time as part of this initiative. Their time has been spent facilitating life-skills workshops on careers and money management at schools in Hackney and Camden, as well as more practical work with eFinancialCareers’ other partner in Hackney, Spitalfields City Farm. Here volunteers have been rolling up their sleeves, assisting City Farm staff in their work offering introductions to animal welfare, organic food and its provenance, and encouraging local youngsters to live more healthy lifestyles.

Commenting on eFinancialCareers’ award, James Bennett, MD EMEA and APAC, eFinancialCareers said:

“This is an outstanding achievement for eFinancialCareers and congratulations to all involved. It is a great testament to all the energy and enthusiasm that the team has put into working with local schools and the local community. I am sure this award will spur us on to do even more in the years to come.”

The Dragon Awards form part of the City Corporation’s commitment to engaging firms in the regeneration of their local communities as it is recognised that the City cannot prosper in isolation. Since they were founded in 1987, the Dragon Awards have attracted high quality applications from a variety of companies and public bodies throughout Greater London in six categories. This year they received 80 submissions.
