Email set to be overtaken by new technology says recruitment IT expert

2011 will see recruiters’ use of email to contact candidates and clients fall behind new technology according to a leading staffing IT expert.

Raymond Pennie, Commercial Director of IT services provider Kamanchi and Co-Chair of the APSCO Technology Forum, says that the ongoing of rise of social media will see email overtaken by status updates, tweets and live feeds.

“As the importance of social networking continues to rise we can expect to see email become less important to consultants,” says Raymond. “We will see companies using social networks to arrange interviews, sending profiles over Skype, staying in touch with contacts through Facebook and recruitment apps being used to update vacancies and inform potential candidates of new opportunities.”

“Social networks are bound to overtake email as a way of keeping in touch in a private way. Who had heard of InMail in 2009? This is not to say that email will become obsolete but it will be used to deliver well-tracked mailshot campaigns.”

Raymond believes that the change in communications will continue to progress throughout 2011 and staffing firms need to be prepared to modify their processes to keep up with they dynamic pace of development.

“There are two questions for recruitment firms: are you ready for these changes and what are you doing to protect your data and intellectual property from the avalanche of new applications?”
