Employment Relations Minister to address REC member AWR seminar

Employment Relations Minister to address REC member AWR seminar

The REC will be taking part in an AWR breakfast seminar this week alongside Employment Relations Minister, Edward Davey - the Minister with responsibility for AWR implementation. The event - hosted by REC members Headstart Employment - will provide the first opportunity to engage directly with the Minister since the draft AWR guidance was published last week.

Commenting ahead of the seminar Tom Hadley, the REC’s Director of Policy and Professional Services, said:

“This will be a great opportunity for us to discuss making AWR implementation as easy as possible for recruiters and employers. The guidance that was published last week provides clarity on some important issues and our initial discussions with BIS confirmed that there are opportunities to further enhance this during the consultation phase.

"Friday's event will enable us to touch on some of the other priority issues for the industry that we have flagged in previous meetings with the Minister. The seminar will also provide an opportunity to discuss AWR issues with client organisations and to address common misconceptions. This forms an important part of our AWR campaign.”

The Headstart Employment seminar is taking place at Epsom Downs Racecourse tomorrow (Friday April 8).

The seminar will also be addressed by Malcolm Lawrence, specialist employment law solicitor with QualitySolicitors Copley Clark while Paul Burstow, Minister for Care Services and MP for Sutton and Cheam will also be in attendance.
