Esme’s recipe for success in new-look IRP qualification

Bristol recruiter Esme Bianchi Barry achieved a mark of distinction by becoming the top student in the first ever examinations for the new look Institute of Recruitment Professionals’ (IRP) Certificate in Recruitment Practice (CertRP).

Esme who works for Monarch Education attained a Distinction in the examination taken by over 160 students which was a culmination of the new Distance Learning Course for the Certificate which started last September.

She joined Monarch in September 2010 after completing a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and having previously worked with children and vulnerable adults.

Following this, Esme became interested in working within education recruitment and has been running the agency’s secondary supply desk which covers placements in Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

Commenting on the Distance Learning Course, Esme said: “I found it helped me achieve my professional goals by giving me a clearer understanding of the recruitment industry as a whole. Additionally, I picked up useful tips regarding time management, legislation within the industry and different approaches towards building a consultative relationship with clients and candidates.”

On hearing she was top student, Esme commented: “Obviously I feel very proud of my achievements and also happy that I have given something back to my company who put me through the training as a part of my professional development. It is a great achievement that I wish to build upon in the future.

Esme’s  future ambitions are to continue working for Monarch Education and by doing so, establish herself as the top recruiter in the south west within her sector. She is also keen on catering and dreams of opening her own restaurant one day.

Commenting on Esme’s achievement, Judith Armatage, Director of Professional Development for the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, which is the awarding body for the IRP qualifications, said: “This is such a milestone for both Esme and the IRP. The very fact Esme has attained a Distinction shows the importance recruiters place on investing both time and effort in their professional development to be the best they can be.

“Our new suite of qualifications has been designed to provide professional recruiters with the knowledge they need to meet the exacting standards that the industry now demands no matter at what stage of their career they are at. We wish Esme every success in her future career and ambitions.”
