FDM Group offers graduate opportunities in Hong Kong as cuts are announced

FDM Group offers graduate opportunities in Hong Kong as cuts are announced

Despite mixed messages on the employment opportunities available in Hong Kong, the UK’s largest IT graduate employer, FDM Group, will be accelerating its recruitment drive in the region.

The recent revelation that a number of investment banks are to introduce major job cuts in Hong Kong in the coming years, came as unwelcome news to many, especially those considering roles and job placements in the area.

However the employment prospects for graduates seeking Hong Kong based IT roles may not be so bleak after all, as the UK’s ‘Best Technical Graduate Recruiter’ of 2010, FDM Group, aims to place 150 candidates in the region within the next year.

FDM Group CEO, Rod Flavell, said, “We are delighted to be accelerating our recruitment drive for graduate placements in Hong Kong. Despite these latest announcements, the growing business opportunities within the region provide excellent prospects for us an international IT services provider, as well as the graduates who are lucky enough to be placed here.”

Hong Kong may also act as an ideal location for graduates to launch their IT careers.

The Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS) recently reported that more than 70% of the IT professionals questioned for its latest employment survey received an average pay increase of four to six percent in 2011.

The results of the survey also revealed that 51.2% of the firms questioned hired fresh graduates this year, 90% of which received an entry level salary of over HK$10,000 a month.

FDM is meeting and exceeding these opportunities by providing its Hong Kong IT Consultants with a salary of around HK$27,000 and has already offered many graduates the opportunity to kick-start their careers in Hong Kong.

FDM Regional Manager for Asia Pacific , Neil Holland, said, “Since October last year we have placed over 50 graduates in the region having developed a substantial and impressive client base. We look forward to offering many more graduates the opportunity to live and work in Asia in the coming years.”

The international graduate employer, which has kick-started the careers of over 3,000 graduates to date, will soon be extending its service delivery across the flourishing continent.
