FDM Group offers solution to shortage of Java and C# Professionals

According to financial services recruiter McGregor Boyall’s latest IT recruitment report, Java and C# professionals are currently in short supply.

The report, which analysed the
contract and permanent requirements during the second quarter of 2011, revealed that 40% of all IT vacancies fell within the development category.

Java vacancies accounted for 30% of this 40%, while C# represented a further 33%.

The UK’s largest IT graduate employer, FDM Group, offers training and work placements within these areas of IT and is dedicated to contributing to a decline in these figures.

FDM Head of Development, Henry Duddy, said, “At FDM we are committed to combating the IT skills shortage and offering graduates the opportunity to kick start their careers within development is certainly at the heart of this commitment.”

The “Best Technical Graduate Recruiter” of 2010, is renowned for its graduate programme, which provides a combination of technical training and real commercial experience.

Successful candidates receive 12-16 weeks of training within a specialised field of IT, before being placed onsite with one or more of FDM’s 200 blue-chip clients for a minimum of two years.

The company currently offers graduates the opportunity to train and work within the fields of Java and .Net (C#), which are two of the firm’s most popular training streams.

FDM Recruitment Manager, Madeleine Field, said, “Our development streams remain incredibly popular and account for a significant percentage of the 17,000 applications we have received so far this year. We look forward to supporting many more graduates in their quest to become developers whilst simultaneously supporting the IT industry.”

FDM has kick-started the IT careers of over 3,000 to date and is to recruit 1,000 graduates this year alone.

The graduate employer has already reached its target for the second quarter of 2011 by recruiting over 600 graduates, nearly 40% of which applied for a place on FDM’s development streams.

FDM is currently searching for 20 talented graduates to embark on their careers as Java developers in the heart of Paris.
