FDM Group recruits record number of interns

FDM Group recruits record number of interns to help  undergraduates kick-start their careers

On the day it was revealed that youth unemployment has dropped by 42,000, FDM Group has announced its commitment to supporting undergraduates in finding employment after university.

The UK’s largest IT graduate employer has helped over 2,500 graduates launch their careers in the field of IT by helping them bridge the gap between University and employment.

Not only does the company offer the industry centred training needed to enter the field, but successful candidates are also placed within one of the company’s 200 blue-chip clients for a minimum of two-years.

This enables FDM trainees to launch a career in IT by providing them with the sought-after and often essential combination of technical training and commercial experience.

And despite it’s ongoing and impressive commitment to supporting IT graduates, which involves the recruitment of 1,000 trainees this year alone, FDM has now extended its support to undergraduates.

The company, which has just offered a range of highly successful work placements in partnership with City University, has taken on a record number of interns in the departments of HR, marketing, recruitment and events.

Not only will these students receive a competitive rate of pay throughout their placement, but interns will also be given an advantage over other students through exposure to the field of their choice.

FDM Senior HR Advisor Lisa Elliot said, “This year we have taken on more interns and for a longer period of time than ever before. We believe that this experience will help prepare them for the transition from academia into employment. In line with our commitment to graduates we also feel that these placements will aid students in finding employment after University by providing them with practical work skills and building on their CVs.”

The summer internships have proved popular with students who have been placed within the company’s London and Brighton offices.

Recent graduates have also been welcomed and HR intern Emma Gray, who has just graduated from Royal Holloway University, believes that her placement will give her an edge over other University leavers.

She said, “Working at FDM has been a great experience for me and I definitely feel it has prepared me for my first permanent role. When I attend my first interview after graduation I will now be able to demonstrate my knowledge of how an HR department operates and be able to give examples of how I have put my skills into practice. I would like to thank FDM for giving me this opportunity.”
