Feel good partnership launches for Samaritans and Simplyhealth 

Samaritans has today announced a new partnership with healthcare provider, Simplyhealth, who will sponsor the charity’s new fundraising day, Feel Good Friday.

With the aim of encouraging staff fundraising in the workplace, the first ever Feel Good Friday will take place on Friday 3 February 2012. All activities are feel good themed and include wearing slippers for the day, hosting a comedy night and taking part in ‘feel-good’ challenges, in return for a donation to Samaritans.

The vital funds raised through Simplyhealth’s sponsorship of Feel Good Friday, will help Samaritans to answer thousands more calls from people who might not have anywhere else to turn. The charity answers a call every five seconds and in order to maintain a 24/7 service it needs to raise over £10 million each year.

Simplyhealth has been helping people to access affordable healthcare for almost 140 years, through a variety of health cash plans, dental plans, private medical insurance and daily living aids.

All too often we are so focused on keeping up with the pace of modern life that we forget to take some time to relax and enjoy ourselves. We hope that Feel Good Friday shows people the value of taking time out, whilst at the same time helping to raise money for a great cause.”

Samaritans’ Chief Executive Catherine Johnstone said: “It is great that we are able to team-up with a like-minded organisation that is focused on helping people. We hope to partner with Simplyhealth for many years and to see Feel Good Friday become an established national fundraising day.”

A dedicated website for Feel Good Friday will launch in November where people can find out more about the day and register for their fundraising pack.
