CARL SWANSBURY

Experienced corporate financier, Carl Swansbury, heads up the Corporate Finance Lead Advisory team at advisory firm, Ryecroft Glenton Corporate Finance.

Carl has an impressive track record for deal-making across the country and has advised on the completion of a number of transactions within the staffing sector in the past twelve months, including E Resourcing’s recent acquisition of SAP consulting firm, Williams McKinley Limited the disposal of Wild Recruitment Limited to the national staffing business, Berry Recruitment Limited. Carl qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2006 and now specialises in advising large corporate, SME and privately-owned staffing businesses on all aspects of corporate finance, from preparing a business for sale, identifying and concluding a strategic acquisition, raising funds for growth, through to the completion of MBO’s / MBI’s. Carl also acts as consultant to many businesses and advises on all aspects of business transformation and growth.”


DENISE WALKER


A business professional, with 25 years’ experience including recruitment, sales, company start-ups, company
directorship and management, people management, process management, business consultant, trainer and
coach. Talented in analysing business performance and improving individuals’, groups’ and organisations’
effectiveness to facilitate growth. Has worked with some 180 businesses to date, within HR, IT, Charity,
Finance, Sales, Hospitality, Marketing, Construction, Training, Industrial, PR, Retail, Pharmaceutical and
Scientific sectors/industries. Skilled in the provision of business consultancy; interim management; training,
coaching and mentoring for owners, managers and their teams.
 


STUART TALBOT - LLOYDS TSB

Stuart started his career working for Lloyds Bank Limited almost 27 years ago in a number of local branches covering most of the back office administrative roles. Stuart then was part of the team which introduced the Small Business Centre concept, which helped map out his commercial career in Lloyds Bank Commercial Services looking after a portfolio of mid market SMEs.

In 1998 Stuart moved in to the invoice finance world by joining Alex Lawrie, which subsequently merged with Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance, and where Stuart looked after mid market clients covering all industry sectors, but increasingly with a focus on the recruitment sector.

In 2007 Stuart was approached to head up a team of client managers whilst retaining responsibility for the largest clients in the newly formed Recruitment Finance Division of Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance, with the role subsequently expanded with Stuart becoming a leading industry expert in the recruitment market.

Stuart now heads up the Recruitment Finance Division of Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance which has responsibility of lending in the order of £300m to just under 1300 clients, in all representing some £5bn of Recruitment business’ UK turnover.

Stuart is a passionate sports fan, being a lifelong Arsenal supporter (long story!) and cricketer (alas now retired). Outside the sports arena he enjoy the arts and is an eclectic music collector.


TIM WALKER -  ICONNYX

Tim is the Founder and Managing Director of Iconnyx. The business was set up in 2008 with the aim of providing small-medium sized businesses with a range of good quality managed services. Working with his fellow directors in the Octium group and the team in Iconnyx, the business has grown both organically and through acquisition to over 700 SME customers. With over 15 years experience in the IT and telecoms market, prior to founding Iconnyx, Tim was the Sales Director of a Private Equity backed business internet service provider. He has a career spanning a number of other sales management and general management including within Redstone Plc.


TOM HADLEY -  THE RECRUITMENT AND EMPLOYMENT CONFEDERATION (REC)

Breaking through! - What are the regulatory, client-driven and other external barriers to future growth and how do we break them down?

Tom Hadley is Director of Policy and Professional Services at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) – the representative body for the UK recruitment industry with other 3,700 corporate members and 6,000 individual members of the Institute of Recruitment professionals (IRP).

The Policy & Professional Services department drives the REC’s policy and Government relations work as well as its legal services. Compliance initiatives and sector groups. As well as leading the department, Tom’s role focuses on driving industry campaigns and lobbying key Government and EU officials on a range of employment and labour market issues.

Before joining the REC, Tom Hadley spent six years at the CBI (Confederation of British Industry) and previously worked for the London-based recruitment and economic development consultancy MBA Training Research & Development. Previous roles included a traineeship within the European Commission and work within the in-house legal department of the French multi-national Vivendi.

Tom has a Masters in International and European Law from Assas University in Paris and a BA Law Degree from Sussex University . Tom was a national league rugby player (retired) and is also a collector of fine wines.


DEBBIE SMITH - CARITAS

 

Debbie started her career in social care recruitment with Bluecare in 2001. Over the next 7 years she rapidly progressed through the ranks until she was appointed as Managing Director in 2008 heading up 3 regional offices including the head office with over 65 Consultants. In 2008 Debbie took the decision to leave HCL to start-up Caritas Recruitment, a joint venture with HB Human Capital, specialising in the social care sector.
