Entry deadline extended

There is just over one month left before the application deadline for the 2010 AARP International Innovative Employer Award.

Employers of all sizes are being urged to submit an entry to highlight how they are taking positive steps to cater for an ageing workforce, whether this is through active recruitment, providing training and career development opportunities or allowing older workers more workplace flexibility.

The winners of the award will be announced at a special ceremony in Brussels on Wednesday 24 November 2010 which will coincide with Employment Week.

The entry deadline has been extended by one week to Friday 30 April 2010. Entries can be submitted at http://www.aarpinternational.org/2010employeraward. Previous entrants can re-use their applications and update them with new information.

TAEN – The Age and Employment Network and AARP are pleased to announce that winners will be recognised in a special report on the ageing workforce in the global edition of the Financial Times.

Chris Ball, Chief Executive of TAEN, says: “These awards represent a great chance for UK private, public and third sector employers to showcase their record in providing jobs and opportunities for older workers internationally.

“We all know the difficulties that older workers face in the labour market and the strain that their exclusion places on public finances.

“We are grateful to the FT for its support of the awards. TAEN and AARP are keen to hear from as many employers as possible to see how they are taking steps to address the important challenges that 50 plus workers face.”
