Kinetic enhances the appeal of Manufacturing careers with teenagers

In accordance with a commitment to improving the skills shortage within the Manufacturing sector, recruitment specialist’s, Kinetic plc partnered The Manufacturing Institute to deliver a ‘Make it in Manufacturing’ workshop at Skills North West (Bolton Arena); the Region’s largest careers event for 14 - 19 year-olds.

With the sector continuously struggling to attract new entrants, Kinetic participated at the event to both provide the region’s youngsters with an insight into what Manufacturing is really about, and to dispel the common myths that a career in the industry is solely about dirty, manual based work.  Through running an interactive Manufacturing style ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ game show, Kinetic enlightened the 20,000 teenagers on just how interesting, varied and rewarding a career in Manufacturing is.

To further whet the teenagers’ appetite for a career in Manufacturing, the workshop also encompassed other hands-on activities, including; creating a 3D video model of a jet engine and test flying it, plastic moulding, mixing hair gel, making metal aircraft, soldering badges, laser-cutting key-rings and creating bags.

Matthew Worman , Marketing Manager at Kinetic said:

“Having managed the recruitment needs of leading Manufacturing companies for over two decades and sourced a multitude of jobs for thousands of candidates, Kinetic can speak competently and honestly about what prospects the industry has to offer. Owing to the lack of career interest and decreasing numbers of new entrants opting to work in Manufacturing, it is important to stimulate awareness at a young age.  Equally so, in an attempt to dispel the false, but unfortunately popular impression that Manufacturing only offers dead end jobs, it is imperative that everyone involved with industry assists the next generation to understand the diverse range of professional and interesting careers that are available.”
