NES Group bucks the trend with record results

ALTRINCHAM based global recruitment company, NES Group, has revealed a leap in turnover to £286 million and announced ambitious plans to expand its global operations.

In a challenging year for the staffing sector, the technical recruitment firm bucked the trend, boasting a rise in turnover of 13 per cent to the year ended 31st October 2009 compared to 2008. Group gross profit also grew by seven per cent to £33.4m.

Against a backdrop of material profit falls by most other staffing companies across the world, NES delivered an increase in operating profit year on year, to £12.02m.

NES Group recruits thousands of contract and permanent staff for businesses worldwide in technical/engineering sectors, including oil and gas, power, infrastructure, life sciences and IT. Its current client base includes some of the biggest multinationals in the world, including BP, Exxon Mobil, Alstom, GSK, Siemens and Bechtel.

In the UK, NES Group has a head office in Altrincham and five regional UK offices in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Birmingham London and Newcastle.

Expansion across the globe has been a major factor in the firm’s growth, with the opening of new offices China in 2009. The Group will continue its international expansion again in 2010 with operations planned in Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Abu Dhabi. The business now operates from more than 25 locations including numerous countries in Africa the Middle East, Asia, Australia and North America.

Neil Tregarthen, CEO of NES Group, has led the business since 2004. He said: “During the worst recession for 50 years, we’re one of a handful of staffing businesses in the world that has continued to grow revenues and profits and our clear strategy of becoming ever more specialist and global continues to reap rewards.

“2010 will see the sixth consecutive year of investment in expanding our global office footprint since I arrived in 2004, as we continue to support our clients in all areas of their global operations.

“As market growth faltered in 2009 we had to preserve our growth record by taking share from our competitors and our value proposition of, "guaranteed recruitment solutions, engineered from the global talent pool, by discipline specific consultants," has proved very compelling for our clients and candidates, alike.”
