Following the GLA’s investigation
Scottish Gangmaster Convicted
Xltech Recruitment, based in Cumbernauld, has been caught breaking the law by the Gangmasters Licensing Authority for supplying workers to an East Kilbride bakery without a GLA licence.
Following the GLA’s investigation, the firm pled guilty at Airdrie Sheriff Court and were sentenced to pay a fine of £1,000 reduced from £1,500 due to an early admission of guilt.
Ian Japp, GLA’s Head of Enforcement responsible for Scotland, said: “Xltech Recruitment broke the law and have got their just desserts. This prosecution emphasises that we are determined to deal with any business who thinks they can get away with trading illegally in the GLA’s sectors.â€
