REC ANNOUNCES AGENCY SUMMIT SEQUEL

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation has called a second Agency Summit on November 27th to give all those involved in the industry a chance to share views and provide input into how equal treatment for agency workers could operate in the UK and finalise the recommendations to Government that have been developed through the RECs Agency Work Commission.

The event will also see the launch of the Future of Employment Working Group (FEWG) White Paper and new research from the REC Industry Research Unit in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). The overall aim is to enable recruiters to plan ahead by focusing on the practical implications of new regulations as well as future trends in how businesses work with agencies.

This weeks decision by the European Parliament to endorse the current text of the EU Agency Workers Directive means that the focus will be increasingly on how the new regulations are implemented in the UK.

Commenting on the aims of the second Agency Summit, REC Chief Executive Kevin Green says: There are legitimate concerns that the Directive could result in the biggest shift in the provision of temporary, contract and interim workers the industry has ever seen. The opportunity for recruitment professionals therefore is to see how added value can be brought to employers through determining how best these new regulations can work for the benefit of all.
