SAP shows strength for 2009 jobs

PeopleCo, the SAP specialist recruiter, ran a survey of 150 attendees at the recent UK&I SAP User Group Conference at Hammersmith.

The results show clearly that SAP is still popular with its practitioners and significantly 67% of respondents believed that SAP headcount will either remain the same or increase throughout 2009. This suggests that permanent and contract employment opportunities within the UK SAP industry might hold up in what is predicted to be a challenging 2009.

Commenting on the results PeopleCos MD Martyn Barrow said Despite the doom and gloom SAP practitioners seem to be staying upbeat. As the product lies at the heart of its user enterprises it should be the priority tool for maintenance and upgrade even in tough economic times.

71% of delegates questioned rated SAP at 4 out of 5 or above as a Product with 53% already running the latest SAP ECC6 solution and a further 45% identifying upgrade projects as the SAP priority for 2009. Clearly there are SAP issues to be dealt with next year which we hope will provide a measure of comparative stability in the SAP job market, says Barrow.
