North West recruiter sees sharp rise in turnover

Scantec Personnel, one of the North Wests leading recruitment companies, says it is now gunning to become one of the UKs top 50 recruitment companies following its most successful year.

Despite the economic downturn the Wirral based company saw turnover surge from 52.3m in 2007 to 62.4m in 2008. Contracts in the defence, nuclear and power generation as well as activity in the oil and gas and pharmaceutical sectors helped achieve this growth.

Scantec managing director John Robinson said the company is now aiming to grow its turnover to 100m within five years from its purpose built offices in Birkenhead.

Weve had a tremendous year, he said. We rose from 93rd place to 87th position in the national table of recruitment companies. And we further consolidated our specialist sectoral status by maintaining our ninth position in the Top 10 technical recruitment companies, as rated by Recruitment International. In 2009 key areas of business growth will be the defence, nuclear, power generation and the international oil and gas sectors.

Mr Robinson said the firm is well positioned to weather the credit crunch.
We have come to the end of a sound five year business plan, which has seen an increase in the companys turnover by more than half. Critical to our future are our new offices at Twelve Quays in Birkenhead. We moved in at the end of 2006 and we now have first class accommodation for our 62 staff with plenty of space to grow. Crucially, having a single site operation will enable us to maintain our costs during the recession.
