RECs former CEO Marcia Roberts awarded MBE

The REC is delighted to announce that its former Chief Executive Marcia Roberts has been awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours List for her services to diversity and the recruitment industry.

Marcia became the RECs Chief Executive in September 2006 after previously being its Director of External Relations for seven years then Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

She was the driving force behind the RECs Diversity Pledge launched in conjunction with Jobcentre Plus in November 2005 to which hundreds of members signed up to give their support to the concept of ethical recruitment. It was partly in recognition of this groundbreaking initiative that Marcia has been given the MBE.

When she was appointed CEO and she committed herself from the outset to raising the bar for professional standards throughout the REC and the industry, and enforcing its Code of Practice.

She was forced to step down as CEO in May 2007 due to a serious illness. Her legacy included a very strong management team which has continued working towards achieving her vision of raising standards within the industry and creating the best possible environment in which REC members can do business.

Marcia is a well known and respected industry figure and her award will be welcomed by members, colleagues and key stakeholders who hold her in high regard.
