THE BEST CONNECTION RALLIES IN TOUGH CLIMES

In a survey of Britains top 250 privately owned mid-market companies, some service sector organisations are tackling economic uncertainty. However, Birminghams The Best Connection employment group increased its position in the Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250 by 8 places in 2008 despite unprecedented market conditions. The organisation, which specialises in the driving, industrial and warehousing and distribution sectors, provides temporary labour for many national and international businesses. It was ranked 240th with a turnover of 170 million.

The Best Connection Groups ranking gives an indicator of the UK service sector and how mid-market companies are resisting the downturn by adopting a flexible and focused approach to their key markets. Neil Yorke, director, The Best Connection Group, said: We are very happy to be listed alongside many household named companies such as Aston Martin and Harrods but we are under no illusion that the market conditions are likely to ease in the near future. We have to react flexibly to the changing business landscape as many of our customers continue to experience a decline in their business activities. Our focus on customer service has helped us to establish sound long term relationships and strengthen our market position.

According to the report, mid market sector organisations contribute 5% of GDP, generating 69 billion and employ 1.5% of Britains workforce. Changes to this sector provide a good indication of market conditions across a broad range of businesses.

The Best Connection Group is the only Birmingham headquartered business to be listed in the Top Track 250. We are proud of our regional representation and achievements since 1991. 2009 will undoubtedly bring its challenges but we are steadfast in our approach and confident that conditions will improve, continued Yorke.
