GLA licence refused in Wolverhampton

An application for a GLA licence has been refused due to concerns over the actual identity of the gangmaster.

Documents provided to confirm the identity of Mr Joginder Mann, who intended to run J.Mann Contractors Ltd in Wolverhampton could not be authenticated by the GLA.

Due to the failure to provide sufficient evidence of his entitlement to work in the UK, the GLA refused the application to run a gangmaster business.
The GLA has passed the relevant information to the UK Border Agency.
Paul Whitehouse, Chairman of the GLA said: The right to work is only one of the checks we carry out on those applying for a licence. All applicants must also be able to demonstrate that procedures are in place to ensure the welfare of workers.
