Honour For Huxley
Honour For Huxley
Huxley Associates has won a prestigious award in recognition of a fantastic project that was launched to help unemployed young people in the London area.
The international recruitment consultancy's 'Apprentice Day,' which took place in November last year, took advantage of the skills of its employees to help the participants to experience the corporate world and boost their chances of finding employment.
Representatives from Huxley Associates were presented with the 'Most Innovative Project' accolade by the Time and Talents for Westminster programme, a charity partnered by Westminster council, at a glitzy ceremony held in London recently. They were delighted to learn that the project had been beaten tough competition from the likes of the Conservative Party and Barclays.
The project involved young people from the Westminster area who were trained by Huxley employees with CV writing tips, interview techniques and more. Following the day the two participants that showed the most promise each won a week's work experience at Huxley's London head office while the others were presented with music vouchers for their efforts. This fantastic initiative was organised in conjunction with 'Connexions,' an organisation that supports 13-19 year olds with advice on issues such education, careers and health.
Abdul, one of the successful apprentices said that his placement at Huxley taught him many positive things. He said: "Before my placement I knew I wanted to be a business man but I left college and thought Id never be able to because I did not have a degree. I thought it would be too difficult for me but now after spending time at Huxley I realised that it is possible if you have the right attitude, the right motivation and dedication."
Reflecting on the project, Cllr Sarah Richardson, Westminster City Council Cabinet Member for Childrens Services, said: This was a great way to engage young people and it gave them a unique insight into the recruitment process. They received individualised feedback on their CVs and the interview itself, which will help them succeed in their future careers.Andy Nimmo, Huxley Associates' Career Development Manager, said: "At Huxley Associates we're committed to supporting local communities in which we work and we were delighted to win this fantastic award.
"The project was great fun, rewarding and motivational for everyone involved. We received a great sense of giving something back and we are looking to hold another Apprentice Day in our Manchester office later this year."
