NEW YEARS HONOURS
Odgers achievements recognised
in recent announcements

Senior figures at Odgers, Ray & Berndtson, the UKs leading headhunting firm, have been singled out for commendations in a string of recent announcements.  Richard Boggis-Rolfe, Chairman and Chief Executive of Odgers, was given the 2008 European Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Executive Search Profession by the AESC (Association of Executive Search Consultants) European Council Michael Barrington-Hibbert, a director of Odgers Select, operating in the City of London, has been named as one of the Governments REACH black male role models and Sue Shipley, a partner at Odgers, was recognised by Drapers magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in fashion.

Richard Boggis-Rolfe was presented with the AESC award in November at the organisations 12th Annual European Conference in London.  AESC President Peter Felix said he had played a key role in building one of the great success stories in executive search in the UK and in chairing a leading network of firms around the world.

Michael Barrington-Hibberts status as a REACH black male role model was also confirmed in November.  The Right Honourable Hazel Blears MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, described Michael and his 19 peers in the initiative as a group of men with commitment, belief in community and ability to reach and talk to young black men through their stories, personal achievements and insights.  Michael heads up Odgers Selects City of London business.  He said, I have been very fortunate to have fantastic role models in my adult life and I would like to help and inspire young men and let them know that, no matter what setbacks life throws at you, you can achieve anything.

The Drapers Top 100, representing the hundred most influential individuals in fashion retail, was announced in the pages of the magazine in December, and Sue Shipley appeared prominently at No. 65 higher than such well-known names as Mohammed Al-Fayed of Harrods, Kim Windsor of Aquascutum and Myleene Klass, model for Marks & Spencer and musician.  Indeed, immediately below Sue in the listing at joint No. 66 were Messrs Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, whose Italian fashion house bears their surnames.  Drapers said that Sues placement of Paul Marchant as Chief Operating Officer at Primark was no mean feat and one of the most difficult appointments to get right.  The industry, the magazine said, waits with bated breath to see what Shipley will pull out of the bag for 2009.
