Driver Hire helps gritting effort
Driver Hire is helping keep the UKs roads open during the worst winter weather the country has endured for two decades. A leading specialist supplier of temporary and permanent workforce to the road transport and logistics industry -- and that includes supplying drivers for gritting lorries.
Gritter drivers are subject to the Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations and EU Drivers Hours, says Driver Hires Chief Executive, Chris Chidley. This means the number of hours they can work in any one week is restricted. The exceptional conditions much of the country has experienced over the past week have pushed gritting teams to the limit. We have qualified drivers standing by ready to step in, so local authority and national agency gritting teams can take a well earned break, without any disruption to the gritting effort.
Driver Hire has more than 100 offices across the UK covering an average of 11,500 shifts per week. Customers include hauliers, local authorities, supermarket groups, builders merchants and delivery firms. Driver Hire drivers have been named Agency Driver of the Year in each of the past four years, from 2005 to 2008. Driver Hire driver Colin Ramsden is the current One in a Million top temporary worker of the year.
