Astbury Marsden goes Head to Head
Astbury Marsden goes Head to Head in Tower Hamlets
Astbury Marsdens London team has continued its commitment to nurturing local social programs by taking part in the Head to Head programme organised by Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership (THEBP) and supported by City Action. The programme is designed to assist students aged 15-17 to develop their interview skills through participating in a number of one-to-one workshops with experienced recruiters. Working with local schools alongside THEBP represents a fantastic start to Astbury Marsdens
Corporate Community Involvement (CCI) programme for 2009, with 14 employees taking part throughout March.
THEBP is a registered charity established in 1991. Its role is to encourage the public and private sectors to work with schools in Tower Hamlets on a range of projects designed to raise achievement and provide pupils with opportunities to improve their work related skills. Despite its close proximity to the City of London, Tower Hamlets is one of the most deprived boroughs in the UK.
The Head to Head sessions are particularly useful for young people who are about to go on work experience, apply for access to higher education or apply for jobs. It helps to equip them with the necessary skills required to face the increasingly tough economic environment head on.
Katie Jones, Consultant at Astbury Marsden comments I found the Head to Head sessions to be a very rewarding experience. It was both fun and challenging and it felt really good to use my skills as a recruiter to give something back to the local community. I was particularly impressed to see the drive and determination of some of the young people that I met, despite some facing difficult personal circumstances.
Mark Cameron, COO continues Not only is this a great opportunity for our consultants to use their skills to provide support to local young people in our community but it encourages them to develop their own skills, value diversity and to behave a role models. We will continue our commitment to other community based projects where our individual skills may help to improve the prospects of others.
