Financial services vacancies are still open for those with the right skill-sets, argues new practice head at recruitment specialists Odgers Select
News of retrenchments at banks and other financial institutions may be common, but at certain functional and departmental levels there are still vital roles that must be filled. So argues Anne Murphy, recently appointed as Practice Head for the Retail & Commercial Financial Services practice within Odgers Select, the middle to senior management specialist arm of Odgers Ray & Berndtson, the UKs leading executive search firm.
Speaking upon her appointment, Anne said, In operations, finance, treasury, risk and compliance, we are seeing vacancies of great significance to the businesses concerned particularly those at what we might term mid-corporate level. While many people might think this is a buyers market, these roles are too important to be left to chance. Thats why we are seeing not only an increased demand for candidates with experience in particular, past experience of a downturn but a demand for quality recruitment services such as ours. Companies recognise that hiring into these roles on any other basis brings risks in terms of cost, reputation and management time that significantly outweigh recruitment fees.
Annes remit at Odgers Select extends to retail banking and consumer finance, insurance, wealth and asset management, and wholesale and transaction banking.
Richard Love, Partner and Deputy MD of Odgers Select, said, Anne has 10 years experience in executive search and selection in financial services across the infrastructure & support areas including audit, legal & compliance, HR, sales & marketing, corporate communications, finance, procurement, shared services, operations, strategy and more specialist technical roles. Her understanding and experience will enable us to increase our presence in this sector.
Kester Scrope, MD of Odgers said, A difficult economic climate highlights the importance of good leadership to a companys long-term performance and sustainability. Only by having the right people on board can we respond in the right way to new challenges, risks and opportunities.
Anne Murphy said, I am delighted to be leading the consumer financial services team at Odgers Select. Current market conditions present rare recruiting opportunities, and we are able to identify and introduce individuals and teams to our clients that they might not otherwise have an opportunity to engage.
