Barker Ross helps power energy sector

East Midlands' recruitment agency Barker Ross has launched a power and renewable energy sector division in response to increasing demand from its clients.

The consultancy, with offices in Leicester, Lincoln, Nottingham and Milton Keynes, supplies hundreds of workers to the power industry and latest reports suggests that this sector will continue to grow, despite the current economic downturn.

Barker Ross divisional area manager Jo Hendry said: The UK electricity industry expects to invest 100 billion by 2020 in new power stations and related infrastructure to reduce the risk of black outs resulting from power station closures across the UK. It also plans to expand the renewable energy sector to meet EU legislation.

We have therefore been expanding our operations to supply contractors involved in nuclear decommissioning, new power station build contracts and renewable energy projects. The contractors we provide cover a range of disciplines and include technical design staff, project managers, engineering personnel as well as construction workers.

Barker Ross director Paul Ross added: We see this trend continuing throughout 2009 and beyond and aim to establish our new energy division as another successful part of our business.
