Jobless workers urged to join green energy revolution

A leading recruitment agency is urging redundant workers to seize opportunities in the emerging green energy industry.

Merseyside based Scantec Personnel, one of the UKs Top 100 recruitment agencies, said with the Government promoting the green energy revolution as a key driver out of recession there are real career opportunities in the sector.
Scantec managing director John Robinson said an estimated 160,000 jobs will be created in the green industry by 2020."The recession is wreaking havoc with the jobs market and it is vital workers think about how they can transfer their skills to other sectors," he said. We are advising job hunters to think about key industries which have a strong future. In the green sector we are seeing a wide variety of roles including engineers, architects, financiers, plumbers, installers, waste workers, project managers and marketeers. And these jobs are not just in traditional green sectors such as wind farms, regulators and public sector agencies. Increasingly green jobs are appearing in the private sector and within large organisations which are committing greater investment to becoming environmentally friendly.
