Google scoops REC Technology prize at National Graduate Recruitment Awards
Internet search engine Google has won the REC Technology Sector Group sponsored award at the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards. The company picked up the award for the most popular graduate recruiter in the IT/Telecoms sector.
The ceremony, hosted by comedian and television presenter Alan Carr took place at Londons Grosvenor House, was to honour the best graduate recruiters and graduates.
The Technology award was decided by an online student poll. Commenting on Googles win, Jeff Brooks, Chair of REC Technology said: Google is well known for being a great and innovative company, not only in what it does but how it treats its employees and this award proves this.
REC Technology is always keen to award best practice in recruitment and we are pleased this award has gone to Google for the second consecutive year. According to our latest report, the Technology industry is 1.4 million strong but skills gaps do exist, we will continue to talk to major employers to address these issues so that everyone can be winners.
Other shortlisted finalist for the award included BT, Cisco Systems, Microsoft, O2, Accenture and IBM UK. IBM UK won the award in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
