BUY-AND-BUILD ARCHITECT TAKES OVER AS CYBERTEAM CEO

In the wake of Rupert Bayfield Juniors stepping down due to ill health, CyberTeam are delighted to announce the appointment of Alan Hutchinson as CEO.

Alan has been in the IT Recruitment industry for more than 30 years having learnt his trade, like so many others, at Computer People. He has huge experience of running and building recruitment companies, buying and selling them and fund-raising in all its forms he is perhaps most famous for creating the most successful buy-and-build operation ever seen in the UK Hutchinson Smith.

Hutchinson Smith was an amalgam of 5 separate companies bought in 1994, all at the same time he then merged them in a way that meant the whole was greater than the sum of the parts, building the combined company to the point where it was sold in 1999 to Hays.

When acquired, the aggregate turnover of the participating companies was 34m but Alan had grown this organically to 98m by the time that they were sold. Since then he has carried out a number of consultancy assignments, helping companies to maximise their profitability, all the time just waiting for the right moment in the economic cycle to create another buy-and-build.

Having lined up appropriate finance for this purpose, he was frustrated when his initial target downgraded their forecast, thereby rendering his offer unworkable. By amazing serendipity, the vacancy at CyberTeam occurred at this very moment, and so he has taken on the CEO role with a view to utilising CyberTeam, with its extensive client base and peerless reputation, as the vehicle for growing another substantial company, both organically, and by acquisition.

Rupert Bayfield Senior, widely regarded as the Grandfather of IT Recruitment and who chaired Computer People to the London Stock Exchange, Berkeley Scott to the AIM and Best International to the Nasdaq (almost!) remains as Chairman commenting on the new partnership, Hutchinson said, Ive done this kind of thing before, and the old guy knows a thing or two as well with the economic upturn coming, Im very excited and the industry needs to hold on to its hat!
